Chores as Crafts

Crafts come in many different forms around my Home.

Its not always painting, coloring, molding with clay, making bird houses, etc. Sometimes its cleaning walls, baseboards, and pulling weeds.

Yet, work/chores can be made fun.

Here are some ways we make it fun around here.

1)We make believe that a King is coming and thus the things we do must be spotless for our coming King and we take joy and delight in making it look beautiful, we  pretend we are Princes and Princesses and when the King arrives he will be so pleased with our work.

2)We set timers to see who can beat the time first

3)We pick chores/work out of hat

4)We listen to music while we work dancing with delight

5)After we are done we reward ourselves with a nice smoothie or homemade ice cream

Bird Feeder Craft

                     Re-Purposing an Old Milk Jug/Carton

                               Bird Feeders For Spring

Springtime is always a favorite time of year around here. The cool weather, the birds chirping and the lovely smell of Spring.

The Kids will love this fun easy craft to attract the birds in your area.

Feeders have been around for centuries and are a great way to relax in the back yard and watch the different types of Birds come and feast.

Our kids enjoy watching from a window and then drawing the birds they see. We then look up in books what kind of bird visited us that day.

           Directions:
1)Find an Old milk jug/carton or you can even use old toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls, or an orange cut in half thats been scooped out. (If you use a toilet paper roll then roll it in peanut butter then the seeds and your done)

  2) Cut out the carton/jug with an opening for Birds to fit through, add your sticks for the birds to perch on.

3)Color your jugs with markers/crayons or construction paper

4)Get some Mixed Bird food from the store, or you can get some mixed trail mix (without M&Ms) and add some seeds to it

  5) Fill your bird feeder with food and hang

onto a tree with string or a hanger

Wacky Wednesday" Homemade SIlly Putty "

    • Glue regular Elmers glue glitter glue is fun
    • Borax
    • water
Mix together a 1 to 1 mixture of glue and water. ( about 2 oz of glue and 2 oz of water is usually enough per child)
    Directions:
Stir the glue and watery together until completely mixed.
Dissolve 1 tsp of borax into 1/2 cup of warm water. Pour borax water into the glue mixture and stir.
Keep stirring, after a few seconds the glue will begin to "gel" up.
Pick up the glue glob and squish it around for a few moments.
It will turn into a pliable, yet firm, silly putty like substance.

If you find the "silly putty" is becoming less pliable, put it in the microwave and heat it up for 5 to 15 seconds.  Store in a baggie or container.
